The Mabuhay Festival 2009 was held at the Metro Convention Center in Toronto, Canada. This is a joint effort between the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Toronto (PCCT). Dubbed as the largest celebration of Philippine heritage and culture in Canada, the celebration featured almost 200 vendors, singers, dancers, performances by beauty queens of various ages, Philippine cuisine providers, art exhibits, raffles and more. Highlights of the event include a mass in the morning, opening act by the classic Juan Dela Cruz Band, an exhibit by renowned Filipino photographer, Carlos Esguerra, the annual Santacruzan, a play produced by Studio Six Productions consisting of local Filipino Canadian artists entitled "Girl Ikakasal Ka Nga Ba" featuring Ms. Josie De Leon and the GMA Kapuso artists which consisted of Raymond Gutierrez, Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos and Richard Gutierrez.
